シェイクスピアに代表される初期近代イギリス演劇が、今日、時代や地域を超えて、どのように受容されているのかを研究しています。作品としては、特にシェイクスピアの歴史劇に深い関心を寄せています。
主に、以下のような視点から研究を行っています。
１）作品が書かれたり上演されたりした16世紀末から17世紀初頭のイギリスにおける、劇場構造や演劇情報、政治・文化・歴史的背景を研究。
２）20世紀から20世紀に、初期近代の劇作品がどのように演出されたり変容したりするかを、上演や様々なアダプテーション作品に関して、特に映画化作品を中心に研究。
３）異なる国や地域の中で、初期近代の劇作品がどのように受容されているのかを、研究。
４）エコクリティシズムの観点から、初期近代の劇作品、並びにそこから派生した現代の演技やアダプテーション作品の中に存在する自然に対する見方が、今日の環境問題に対して持つ意味を研究。

The research theme is how the early modern English dramas, typically Shakespeare’s works, are received in the present world. Shakespeare’s history plays are of main interest.
The studies are focused on the following points:
1)　the study of theatrical structure, theatrical backgrounds, politics, culture, and historical situations in England during the late 16th century and the early 17th century, when the early modern dramas were originally written and performed
2) the study of various theatre performances and adaptations -- especially filmed versions -- in the 20th and 21st centuries, exploring how the early modern dramas could be transformed in these days
3) the study of acceptance of the early modern dramas in various countries and regions
4) the study of how the view on Nature in early modern dramas as well as in the performances and adaptations in the modern days could affect on the present environmental issues when considered from eco-critical viewpoints
