Summary

Tribology is science and friction concerning friction, wear and lubrication and examining their mechanisms. Also, that is a key technology for increasing reliability and decreasing friction coefficient of contacting parts found in automobiles, manufacturing machines, office equipment, home electronics, medical devices, and etc. We do a research on microtribology that determine friction concerning phenomena from microscopic ways. The final objectives are revealing the origin of friction, solving the problems in industries, and reduction of carbon dioxide through energy conserving.
When a machine parts are lubricated in oil, surface texturing can reduce the friction. Then we have developed nanostripe surfaces. Features of the nanostripe include capability of efficient fabrication using metals and ceramics. We are developing the technologies to reduce friction using the nanostripes.
